Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday called for unity among the Arya Vysya community, saying it had not received the recognition and political representation it deserved.Addressing an Arya Vysya community meeting after laying the foundation stone of Arya Vysya Atma Gourava Bhavan at Uppal Bagayat, Revanth said unity was the community’s greatest strength and would help it secure greater political representation.He said the Congress govt had appointed an Arya Vysya representative to head a corporation and given the municipal chairperson post in Kodangal to a member of the community.Describing Arya Vysyas as a community known for their foresight, prudence, gentleness and strong sense of self-respect, the chief minister said that members of the community maintained their dignity despite poverty and hardship.Revanth said his govt had complete faith in the Arya Vysya community and assured support for the construction of the Arya Vysya Atma Gourava Bhavan. He said the Bhavan should fully serve the needs of underprivileged members of the community and promised govt assistance for its construction.Recalling his association with former chief minister K Rosaiah, the CM said several former CMs had entrusted Arya Vysyas with managing the state’s finances. He recalled Rosaiah’s guidance during his early political career and said the Congress had provided Rosaiah the opportunity and respect he deserved by making him finance minister, chief minister and governor.Revanth also highlighted the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and Potti Sriramulu, describing Gandhi as a global leader from the Arya Vysya community and noting the sacrifices made by both Gandhi and Sriramulu.
