Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted searches at two locations in Hyderabad and four in Kadapa district, including premises linked to YSRCP Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy, his father YS Bhaskar Reddy and others. The searches are part of the Rs40 crore money-laundering investigation arising from the murder case of former Andhra Pradesh minister YS Vivekananda Reddy.The search operations resulted in the seizure of incriminating documents & digital devices. In addition, unaccounted cash of Rs24 Lakh and two locker keys were recovered and seized from the premises of Avinash Reddy.The searches were carried out simultaneously at different locations in Hyderabad and Kadapa. The ED’s Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case stems from the CBI FIR and chargesheets filed in connection with the murder. The central agency registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in August 2025 on the basis of the CBI case.The ED action comes more than six years after the CBI registered its FIR in the murder case. Prior to that AP police probed the case.PMLA case based on CBI probeVivekananda Reddy, paternal uncle of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, was found murdered at his residence in Kadapa district on March 15, 2019.The Andhra Pradesh high court, on March 11, 2020, directed the CBI to conduct further investigation into the case. Viveka’s daughter YS Sunitha Reddy has filed multiple petitions in the courts. The CBI, New Delhi, had registered an FIR on July 9, 2020, under provisions relating to the murder and criminal conspiracy.The CBI filed its first chargesheet in 2021 and supplementary chargesheets in 2022 and 2023.According to the allegations recorded by the CBI in its FIR and chargesheets: “D Siva Shanker Reddy, a political functionary of the YSRCP, and his close associates YS Avinash Reddy, the YSRCP sitting Lok Sabha MP from Kadapa, and YS Bhaskar Reddy were unhappy when YS Vivekananda Reddy joined the YSRCP, as their increasing influence in politics could have been challenged. So to eliminate Vivekananda Reddy, they hatched a criminal conspiracy and included T Gangi Reddy, Shaik Dastagiri and Y Sunil Yadav, all of whom had worked for Vivekananda Reddy.The ED said Shaik Dastagiri later turned approver and was granted pardon by the Special CBI Court. He disclosed that the murder conspiracy was hatched around one month prior to the murder. T Gangi Reddy informed him that D Siva Shankar Reddy and some senior politicians were also involved in the plan of the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy. Siva Shankar was to give them Rs40 crore for the murder.Shaik Dastagiri was induced by T Gangi Reddy with Rs 5 crore as part of the promised Rs40 crore share. He also admitted that he had received Rs 1 crore from Y Sunil Yadav who took Rs 25 Lakh from it. Dastagiri gave the remaining Rs75 Lakh to his friend Syed Munna. The CBI later recovered and seized Rs46.7 Lakh cash and unaccounted jewellery from the locker of Syed Munna and his mother.These are the allegations made in the CBI case and chargesheets.Searches in Hyderabad, PulivendulaIn Kadapa district, ED teams searched the residence of Thumallapalli Gangi Reddy alias T Gangi Reddy, son of Pedda Gangi Reddy, at T Thummalapalli in Thondur mandal.Searches were also conducted at premises linked to Yadati Sunil Yadav in Pulivendula town and Shaik Dastagiri at Bhakrapuram in Pulivendula.The agency also searched premises linked to Siva Shankar in Pulivendula and his residence at My Home Avatar in Narsingi, Hyderabad.The residence of Bhaskar Reddy at Bhakrapuram in Pulivendula was also covered.In Hyderabad, ED officials searched the villa of Avinash Reddy at Open Skies in Kokapet.
