Revanth urges UK varsity delegation to set up campuses in Telangana | Hyderabad News
Hyderabad: In a major push to position Telangana as a global education destination, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced that US-based Harvard University will begin offering executive education programmes in Hyderabad from Dec. He was addressing a delegation of representatives from leading UK universities and business schools at the MCR Human Resource Development Institute on Thursday.The delegation included Lord Karan Bilimoria, member of the UK House of Lords; Janaka Pushpanathan, director of the British Council; Flora Hamilton, CEO of the Chartered Association of Business Schools; representatives of the British deputy high commission; and 30 representatives from UK universities.Revanth assured the delegation that the state govt would extend support for the establishment of reputed international educational institutions in Telangana. He said the process of setting up offshore campuses of globally acclaimed institutions such as MIT and Purdue University in Hyderabad had already begun.The chief minister said the arrival of foreign universities would strengthen collaboration between academia and industry, while boosting research, innovation and skill development. He added that the presence of leading UK business schools would also enhance Telangana’s appeal as a destination for global investments.Officials said students and faculty in Telangana would benefit from greater exposure to international academic standards, global best practices and world-class learning opportunities. The govt also sees scope for partnerships with institutions such as Harvard, MIT, University of London, Virginia Tech and Northeastern University in executive education, dual-degree programmes, faculty development and research.Revanth said the govt is simultaneously focusing on improving foreign language proficiency among students, including English, German and Japanese, to enhance global employability.Inviting the UK delegation to participate in the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026 in Dec, the chief minister said the event was being envisioned on the lines of the World Economic Forum at Davos.The chief minister said the govt is working to attract the world’s leading universities and Fortune 500 companies.
