Leopard sighting triggers panic in Kamareddy district

Hyderabad: A leopard sighting near Venkampally village in Nagireddypet mandal of Kamareddy district triggered panic among villagers on Monday morning, after a farmer spotted the animal while heading to his agricultural field.According to FRO Vasudeva Rao, farmer Satyanarayana was on his way to his field in the outskirts of the village when he noticed the leopard. Alarmed by the sighting, he immediately returned to the village and informed other residents about the animal.Following the information, several villagers went towards the area to verify the sighting. They reportedly noticed that the leopard had moved towards a nearby hillock and disappeared into the surrounding area.The villagers subsequently alerted the forest department. Forest officials reached the spot and inspected the area to ascertain the movement of the leopard and assess the situation.Vasudeva Rao also said officials were conducting a field-level inspection following the reported sighting. He advised residents of Venkampally and surrounding areas to remain alert, particularly while venturing into agricultural fields and areas close to the hillock.Meanwhile, villagers urged the forest department to install a cage and take steps to capture the leopard, citing concerns over its movement close to human habitation and agricultural fields.
