Konda Sushmitha’s remarks against Revanth Reddy draw Congress ire

Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress leadership and the TPCC disciplinary committee have taken a serious view of the comments made by Konda Sushmitha, daughter of forest and endowments minister Konda Surekha, against chief minister A Revanth Reddy. The TPCC, including disciplinary committee chairman Mallu Ravi, has expressed displeasure over Sushmitha’s remarks and decided to seek an explanation from the minister regarding her daughter’s comments.“The party’s disciplinary committee has taken a serious view of the issue and is preparing to initiate strict action against Sushmitha,” Mallu Ravi said, strongly condemning her remarks and stating that they were detrimental to the reputation of the CM.Meanwhile, AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan has also inquired into the matter and sought a comprehensive report from TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud. The controversy arose after Sushmitha made the remarks during birthday celebrations for her mother, Konda Surekha, organised by her supporters at Geesugonda in Warangal district on Wednesday.Speaking at the event, Sushmitha announced that she intended to contest the upcoming elections from the Parkal constituency and would contest as an independent candidate if the party high command denied her a ticket. Her statement came days after the CM announced that sitting Congress MLA from Parkal, Revuri Prakash Reddy, would contest again from the constituency in the next elections.Sushmitha also made remarks about the alleged involvement of the CM’s brothers in various deals and claimed that Revanth Reddy’s behaviour had changed after he became chief minister. She levelled several allegations against the CM and questioned his authority to decide whether she should be given a party ticket.Sushmitha had earlier also made critical comments against the CM. The issue was subsequently resolved after Konda Surekha and her father, former MLC Konda Murali, offered explanations and apologised on their daughter’s behalf.
