Cong failing to fulfil people’s basic needs, says Harish | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao said the Congress govt failed to provide basic needs like water and power to farmers.Speaking at a BRS joining programme in Kagaz Maddur village of Narsapur constituency, Harish Rao said the Congress govt was making excuses instead of solving people’s problems.“Godavari water is available right in front of us, but the govt is not operating the pumps. Kalwakurthy and Devadula pumps are also being run for only around eight hours. This is not a drought caused by nature; this is a crisis created by the Congress govt,” he said.Harish Rao said farmers were now forced to protest at electricity substations for power. “Farmers are not even getting a proper six to seven hours of power. Their motors are tripping and crops are drying up. During the BRS govt, farmers received 24-hour free power even during peak summer,” he said.He questioned the govt for blaming El Nino for the power shortage.“The govt was warned about the weather situation months in advance. Why were adequate coal stocks not maintained? Now, after the problem has started, they are blaming El Nino,” he said. Harish Rao also questioned the proposed agreement to send 800 MW of Singareni power to Rajasthan.“When Telangana itself is facing a power shortage, why should our Singareni power be given to Rajasthan? I have already written to the CM demanding that the agreement be cancelled and the power be used for Telangana,” he said.He also criticised the govt over its election promises. “Congress promised six guarantees within 100 days. More than 1,000 days have passed, but the promises remain unfulfilled. Farmers, women and elderly people are still waiting,” he said.Harish Rao said the state govt is neglecting roads in villages while allocating ₹10,000 crore for roads in the Future City. “The govt should explain whom these roads are really benefiting,” he said. “People need water, power and basic facilities, not excuses. The BRS will continue to stand with farmers and fight for their rights,” Harish Rao added.
