Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Wednesday quashed a sexual assault case registered against former BRS MLA Rega Kantha Rao.The case was registered against the former legislator from the Pinapaka assembly constituency in Bhadradri Kothagudem district based on a complaint by a 22-year-old woman, who alleged that he had duped her on the false promise of marriage and sexually assaulted her. The case was registered at Punjagutta police station in July.Justice BR Madhusudhan Rao passed the quash order. Following the court’s decision, Kantha Rao withdrew his anticipatory bail petition that was pending before the HC.According to the complainant, Kantha Rao had sexually assaulted her multiple times since 2022, when she was 22, on the pretext of offering her employment. She also alleged that Kantha Rao had taken Rs 5 lakh from her after assuring her of high returns through a real estate investment.
