High court directs minority welfare secretary to oversee Alladdin’s Trusts | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: The Telangana high court has directed the principal secretary of the minority welfare department to supervise four trusts created by the late Ahmed Nawaz Alladdin—including the Mecca Madina Alladdin Waqf—and collect rents from 452 tenants. Justice NV Shravan Kumar issued these interim directions on Sept 15 while hearing a writ petition filed by the trusts, ordering the collected rents to be deposited into an escrow account at a nationalised bank until further orders. Alladdin was a prominent industrialist in the city during the 20th century.The petitioner trusts contended that their properties fall outside the purview of the Waqf Act following its amendment effective from April 2025. Senior counsel Prabhakar Sripada for the petitioners alleged that the Telangana State Waqf Board committed financial irregularities with trust rents after assuming direct management in Jan 2012. The petitioner noted that these trusts were originally established, alongside the 1948 construction of the ‘Madina building’ in Hyderabad, to support needy Muslims and educational causes.
