Two hurt in drunken brawl at Jubilee Hills pub, 3 cases filed

Hyderabad: Two persons suffered injuries after rival groups clashed during a drunken brawl at a pub in Jubilee Hills late on Saturday night, triggering tension in the area. Police are tight-lipped about the incident as one of the groups was led by Congress Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav’s brother, Arvind Kumar Yadav. Police have booked three separate cases, two against the warring groups and another against Cara Cara pub management for operating beyond permitted hours.On Saturday night, Arvind Kumar Yadav, who is the son of former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, went with family and friends to the pub at the hotel in Jubilee Hills. Another group, led by Wasim Khan and Afsar Khan, was also partying at the place.‘Property vandalised’“Late in the night, when Wasim and Afsar were walking close to the table where Arvind Kumar Yadav and his family were sitting, an argument broke out, which escalated into a fight between the two groups. There was palpable tension on the premises, and it was recorded in CCTV footage too. Later, both the groups left the premises and again clashed at the parking lot, where some more persons joined them,” sources in Hyderabad police told TOI.When the two groups clashed inside the pub, bouncers intervened since the establishment’s property was vandalised. A large number of persons were seen going berserk again in the parking lot, damaging parked cars besides beating people. A video has gone viral where a group of persons pushed down a person and was repeatedly beaten by them. Incidentally, the drama took place after 1 am on Sunday, which was beyond the permissible time to operate the business. Through sources in Hyderabad police, TOI came to know that the Jubilee Hills police finally registered three different cases.A suo motu case was registered against both groups for the offence of affray and the related acts of fighting. On the complaint of Wasim Khan, a case was registered for assaulting the complainant and his friend in the parking area, when they were proceeding to their residence. The accused persons reportedly intercepted their vehicle and assaulted them and damaged the car.“A case was also registered against the pub management for allegedly operating the pub beyond the permitted hours without obtaining the required permission for the extended operating hours,” police said in a late night statement on Sunday.
