8-year-old boy dies after ‘accidental’ hanging while playing at home in Mylardevpally | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: An eight-year-old boy died after allegedly accidentally hanging himself while playing at his house in Laxmiguda, Mylardevpally, on Sunday evening. His parents, who had gone grocery shopping, rushed him to a nearby hospital after being alerted by relatives, but doctors declared him brought dead. The boy lived in a rented house with his parents and seven-year-old sister. The family, originally from Uttar Pradesh, migrated to Hyderabad about six years ago. His father works at a local metal company.“At around 6 pm, my father-in-law called me saying that my son had hung himself from the ceiling fan in a bedroom. We immediately rushed home, took him down and shifted him to a nearby hospital, where the duty doctor declared him brought dead,” the boy’s father stated in his police complaint.According to Mylardevpally sub-inspector Laxmaiah, the boy’s sister was playing in another room when she answered a video call from their aunt in Uttar Pradesh. When her aunt said she wanted to speak to the boy, the girl went to the bedroom, where she found her brother hanging. She alerted her relatives nearby, who informed the family.“The boy had reportedly placed a stool on the bed and tied a chunni to the ceiling fan. We suspect he may have been playing when the stool slipped, resulting in the accident,” the SI said.Police found no other injury marks on the boy’s body. Investigators also spoke to neighbours and visited the school where he was studying in Class III.“Neighbours said the parents took good care of their children. His sister told us he had been playing with her for some time before the incident and no one else was home. He was a good student, and we found nothing suspicious about his behaviour at school,” the inspector said.Mylardevpally police registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS and shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examination.
