Seethakka defends Surekha’s removal from cabinet, says discipline matters | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Women & child welfare minister D Anasuya (Seethakka) on Sunday defended the Congress high command’s decision to take action against former minister Konda Surekha, stressing that every party leader must abide by the decisions of the leadership and maintain discipline.Speaking to the media in Kollapur, Seethakka said, “Everyone must abide by the party’s decision. We all must work in adherence to the high command’s decision; no one should cross the party line”.Seethakka said internal differences should be discussed within the party rather than being aired publicly. She maintained that the high command was not afraid of individuals and that the Congress was not a weak organisation. “Discipline is essential within the party,” she said, adding that anyone with grievances should approach the party leadership or senior leaders directly.Referring to the controversy surrounding remarks against chief minister A Revanth Reddy, Seethakka said the high command had found such public attacks inappropriate.She also criticised opposition leaders for celebrating the developments within the ruling party. Targeting BRS working president KT Rama Rao, Seethakka questioned why he had not explained the circumstances surrounding the sidelining of his sister, K Kavitha. She also referred to the earlier dismissal of deputy CM Rajaiah, saying that the reasons for such decisions were not always publicly known.Seethakka warned that party leaders, including herself, would have to face consequences if they crossed the party line in the future. She said the Congress would become stronger if its leaders worked collectively and followed the decisions of the high command.At the same time, Seethakka clarified that Konda Surekha remained in the Congress and said party leaders would continue to work together for the organisation’s development.
