Hyderabad: Complaints over missing and incorrect entries have begun surfacing after Telangana’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) draft electoral rolls were published, with voters reporting that their names were missing despite submitting enumeration forms or completing the verification process. Several others have flagged suspected duplicate entries, pending corrections and confusion over how to identify anomalies in the draft rolls.The complaints, including posts on social media over the past 24 hours, come as voters begin checking the draft rolls following an exercise in which 73.39 lakh names were excluded from the previous electorate of about 3.38 crore. Another large set of electors is expected to undergo scrutiny for anomalies or lack of mapping with the previous SIR roll.‘Submitted form, but name missing’Sai Lohitha from Hyderabad questioned why a family member’s vote had been deleted despite the enumeration form being correctly submitted online.She told TOI: “My brother’s vote was deleted despite filling in the form correctly. The only thing the Booth Level Officer (BLO) had to do was verify and confirm. I filled in and submitted Form 20 online before the deadline, and because of the BLO’s ignorance, this happened. In our family of four, three forms were accepted, and one was rejected despite following the same process for all four.”Another person, Raghava, said details had been furnished as required, but the name was still missing from the draft roll. He questioned how the deletion could have occurred after the process had been completed.A voter using the name Charyulu said no BLO had visited the household and that enumeration forms were obtained and submitted independently. The voter alleged that their names were missing, while some deceased or unavailable electors continued to figure in the constituency roll and sought action from election authorities.In Nampally, Nameeth Bhat posted screenshots on X claiming to have found two entries with nearly identical particulars, except for age. He questioned how the entries had bypassed verification and directed election officials to scrutinise them.Ashfaq Hadi, meanwhile, said a Form 8 application submitted on July 5 to correct a name on the Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) remained pending 44 days later.CEO says complaints yet to riseChief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy said the election machinery had not received a large volume of complaints so far.“There are no big complaints so far across the state. It will take time as people have just started searching their names,” he said.Rajendranagar Electoral Registration Officer Srinivas Reddy said his office had received one such complaint.“I have received one complaint saying one of the family members’ names is missing in the draft rolls. We are looking into it,” he said.The social media posts also reflected confusion over how electors can identify whether their entries have been marked with anomalies or whether notices are due.
