RTC to recruit 4,538 staff to ease workload: Ponnam | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the state govt would soon complete recruitment to 4,538 posts in the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) to reduce the workload on existing employees.Speaking at a video conference with Congress leaders ahead of the TGSRTC union elections, Ponnam said the govt had cleared several long-pending financial and service-related issues of RTC employees and was taking steps to strengthen the workforce.He said employees were now receiving their salaries on the first of every month following the merger of the RTC with the govt. The govt had also cleared the pending 2017 PRC and outstanding DA dues soon after coming to power, besides clearing pending bonds from 2013, he said.Ponnam said PF arrears had been reduced from ₹1,205 crore to ₹600 crore, while Cooperative Credit Society (CCS) dues had come down from ₹690 crore to ₹300 crore. The govt was paying ₹75 crore every month towards PF and CCS dues, he said.The minister said the govt had also taken up 1,134 long-pending compassionate appointments. Around 250 employees who had been permanently removed from service by the previous govt for various reasons had so far been reinstated, he said.Ponnam asked Congress leaders to coordinate with RTC depot presidents and secretaries and work across depots during the union elections.
