Hyderabad catches the Korean Wave | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad witnessed its first Korean cultural festival of this scale last weekend, as thousands of people gathered at Shilpakala Vedika, filling its halls and open premises. Organised by the Korean Cultural Centre India in collaboration with the Telangana government, the event followed the celebrations in New Delhi. Running from the afternoon well into the night, the festival brought together Korean and Telangana culture through music, dance and martial arts. Actress Manasa Varanasi was among the attendees, as fans across age groups cheered for performances and celebrated their interest in Korean culture, from K-pop and K-dramas to food.
The eight-member K-pop group NTX headlined the evening, performing their own songs and dancing to a medley of Hindi hits, including Kala Chashma, Naacho Naacho and Koi Mil Gaya. They also sang Kesariya from Brahmastra

I have been a K-pop fan for almost 10 years, and watching NTX perform live in Hyderabad was special. Their energy and stage presence were a delight, especially their effort to embrace our music and culture

The programme featured a Taekwondo demonstration, performances by Korean artists playing traditional instruments, and an EDM collaboration between four wind instrument players and a DJ. Telangana folk dances and songs brought local traditions to the stage, reflecting the cultural exchange between India and South Korea
It was lovely to attend this event with friends and enjoy the performances. The energy of the performances and the enthusiasm of the crowd made the experience so much fun. It is also nice to see K-pop and K-drama culture catching on here, with more people showing interest and embracing it
