Hyderabad: The Telangana high court has set aside an interim order staying elections to the Jubilee Hills Cooperative House Building Society Ltd. It has directed the State Cooperative Election Authority and election officers to resume the election process, starting from the stage at which it was stalled, and complete it as expeditiously as possible, preferably within eight weeks from receipt of the judgement.The bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin passed these directions on Tuesday while allowing a batch of appeals moved by the society challenging the single judge’s April 2026 order.The court further ordered that votes of the 270 members whose names were included in the voter slip be polled separately and kept in separate ballot boxes, while votes of the remaining members on the final voters list be kept in a separate set.The election results are to be declared in accordance with law, with both sets of ballot papers preserved separately, said the court.Once results are declared, aggrieved parties will be free to challenge them through an election petition, including on the ground that the separately polled votes materially affected the outcome.The court further clarified that any election petition or statutory proceeding arising from this matter must be decided independently on its own merits, without being influenced by observations made in the single judge’s interim order or in this division bench judgement.
