Employees unions gear up for protests over unfulfilled promises | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Telangana employees unions are gearing up for another protest, alleging that the state govt has not kept its promises made to the employees four months ago.The Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising Telangana Gazetted Officers union and over 200 unions have decided to mark a “Chalo Hyderabad” on Sept 10 with five major demands. The JAC has about 13 lakh employees of various categories.“The state govt had promised Pay Revision Commission (PRC), and the report has not been given to the govt for the past three years. There are six DAs pending along with over ₹10,000 crore in arrears. The employees also facing problems with non-implementation of the employees health scheme (EHS),” Telangana Gazetted Officers Association president Eluri Sreenivasa Rao told TOI.Another JAC of the govt employees led by Lachireddy and V Rajasekhar announced that they would hold a “Sankalpa Sabha” at Exhibition Grounds on Sept 6. The JAC also demanded implementation of the Old Pension Scheme in place of Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) for those employed after 2004.Interestingly, chief minister A Revanth Reddy had, at a recent public meeting, said the govt employees were unhappy with him though the state govt has been working for their welfare.The employees union protested over the same issues in May and deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka held meetings with them and the CM announced that the state govt would release ₹6,000 crore to clear the pending dues of the employees. CM Revanth Reddy also asked the PRC to submit its report immediately.On the assurance of the CM, the employees JAC had withdrawn its demonstrations.Now the employees unions allege that despite the CM’s assurances, the PRC report was not submitted and the pending DAs were not cleared.“If the state govt does not fulfill its promises, we will take up further programmes like work to rule, pen down and others,” a JAC leader said.
