Work to fulfil YSR’s last wish to make RaGa PM: Revanth | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said making AICC leader Rahul Gandhi the prime minister would be a true tribute to Andhra Pradesh former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR).Speaking at the YSR Award-2026 function in New Delhi, he appealed to YSR’s admirers and supporters to work collectively under the leadership of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to ensure Rahul Gandhi becomes prime minister in the upcoming elections.The award, carrying Rs 25 lakh cash prize, was presented to MS Swaminathan Research Foundation by AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.Recalling YSR’s final wish, Revanth said that after taking oath of office for the second time as the CM in the undivided state, YSR had stated that making Rahul Gandhi the prime minister was his life’s goal. However, he passed away before his wish could be fulfilled.“THe country is going through a difficult period and needs a leader who would stand firmly with the people. Rahul Gandhi is the strong leader the country needs at the present historic juncture,” Revanth said.He also highlighted YSR’s contribution to irrigation development in Telangana, crediting him with initiating projects such as Pranahita-Chevella, Kalwakurthy lift irrigation and the SLBC tunnel project.The CM assured that the Congress govt would carry forward YSR’s vision and complete the Pranahita-Chevella, SLBC and Kalwakurthy lift irrigation projects and dedicate them to the people of Telangana.Listing out the contributions of former prime ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and former UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to the country, Revanth also recalled the Congress govt role in the past in introducing the public distribution system (PDS) and supplying essential commodities through ration shopsCM Revanth also listed out YSR’s contribution to farmers and said he was the leader who signed the first order providing free electricity to farmers.
