Why no action against Ponguleti over Section 22A, asks Harish | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao on Friday questioned what he described as selective action by chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s govt, asking why action was taken against minister Konda Surekha while no action had been initiated against revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy over prohibited land parcels.Addressing a BRS protest at the Koutala mandal centre in the Sirpur (T) constituency, Harish said the inclusion of land parcels in the 22A prohibited list had adversely affected poor people and farmers. He alleged that agricultural land, house sites and other properties had been included in the list, making it difficult for owners to access various benefits.Harish said 42,867 acres in the Sirpur (T) constituency alone had been placed on the 22A list and claimed that the figure stood at around 15 lakh acres across Telangana.He alleged that farmers whose land parcels were included in the prohibited list were unable to obtain crop loans, Rythu Bandhu benefits and other forms of assistance. Describing it as an attack on the livelihoods of poor people, Harish said Revanth should explain why such land parcels were being brought under restrictions.He alleged that while former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao had distributed land to poor people, Revanth Reddy’s govt was depriving them of those properties. He demanded that the govt immediately remove eligible land parcels from the prohibited list and apologise to farmers who had allegedly been described as encroachers.Harish said the BRS would continue its campaign until the affected people received relief. He announced that the party would soon organise a siege of the assembly and the CM’s residence over the issue.
