University of London plans campus in Hyd

Hyderabad: The Telangana Rising delegation, led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy, which is on a tour of the UK, met the academic team from Cambridge University and also visited the Senate House at the University of London (UoL) for a roundtable. According to the CMO, the University of London is working on setting up a campus in Hyderabad to offer a wide range of educational courses and programmes from various schools and departments that make up its academic federation.The delegation, including IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu, govt adviser K Ramakrishna Rao and special chief secretary Jayesh Ranjan, met a delegation from UoL, including representatives from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), among others. They presented opportunities for leading global institutions to set up their campuses in Hyderabad and join in the creation of a top global knowledge hub.Earlier, the delegation held a meeting with Susan Finnegan and Nuala Gallagher from Liverpool City Development, along with their colleagues from Liverpool Football Club. According to the CMO, Liverpool was keen to enter into a strategic partnership with Telangana focused on life sciences, technology, sports, and the creative economy. The Liverpool delegation will visit Hyderabad in Oct to formalise the partnership, it said.Jaideep Prabhu, the govt of India-sponsored chair of marketing at Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS), and Venkata Serish Gandikota of CJBS and co-chair of Frugal AI, expressed keen enthusiasm in partnering with Telangana. “The two sides agreed on setting up a framework for collaboration involving offering education in Hyderabad, research, and incubation of entrepreneurship,” said the CMO. Minister D Sridhar Babu, K Ramakrishna Rao and Jayesh Ranjan met the delegation from University of London (UoL), including teams from London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), and others.Meanwhile, K Ramakrishna Rao visited Imperial College London. During his meeting with Amanda Wolthuizen, vice president for strategic engagement and chief of staff to the president, and Rosanna Gillespie, senior international relations manager (South Asia and Australia), Rao presented the strengths of Telangana and outlined opportunities for collaboration.Amanda, who is also chief of staff to the president of the college, expressed interest in exploring several opportunities, including possibilities of offering short-term and executive education programmes in Hyderabad, as well as collaborative partnership in research and exchange programmes. Rao invited them to Hyderabad for the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2.0, to be held on Dec 7, 8 and 9.
