Hyderabad: Roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Saturday directed officials to complete the solar roof top construction for car parking facility at the Telangana secretariat by Dec 2026.He also instructed officials to expedite the road works being taken up under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), Setu Bandhan scheme and various ongoing Road Over Bridge (ROB) projects across Telangana.As decided earlier in the presence of chief minister A Revanth Reddy, the minister instructed officials to provide for solar-panel-equipped parking in two rows on the northern side, three rows on the southern side and one row on the western side. Officials presented the proposed designs to him.Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the solar car parking project is being taken up at an estimated cost of ₹26.81 crore, and is expected to generate around 90,000 units of electricity for the secretariat and reduce its monthly electricity bill by around 16% through the power generated.The minister said 3,918 km of roads covering 316 works, at an estimated cost of ₹5,159 crore, had been sanctioned so far. While some projects were ready for inauguration, several others were in the final stages of completion, he added.He appreciated officials for the satisfactory progress of road works taken up during 2025-26, covering 422.36 km at a cost of ₹868 crore. He also expressed satisfaction over the progress of the Narketpally bridge project, being constructed under the Setu Bandhan scheme at a cost of ₹76 crore, and directed officials to further accelerate the work in coordination with the local MLA.Komatireddy instructed chief engineer Vanaja to immediately commence the Miryalaguda-Nandipahad bridge works, complete all related technical formalities without delay and coordinate with the local MLA.Officials briefed the minister on the progress of works in Karimnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Vikarabad, Nizamabad, Siddipet, Mahabubabad and Rangareddy districts.
