Kishan Reddy demands judicial inquiry into 22A inclusions

Hyderabad: Union minister G Kishan Reddy on Saturday demanded the state order a comprehensive judicial inquiry by a sitting high court judge on inclusion of lakhs of acres of private and patta land in 22A in the prohibited properties list under Bhu Bharati.Addressing a news conference at BJP headquarters on Saturday, the Secunderabad MP alleged that Congress, which had promised to end the alleged land irregularities committed through Dharani during the previous BRS govt, was now engaging in even greater wrongdoing under the name of Bhu Bharati. He claimed that approximately four lakh acres of land in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal districts alone had been illegally added to the 22A prohibited list “overnight”.“Private houses and plots that had received municipal permissions, paid taxes and been occupied for decades were deliberately included in the 22A list, even though the list was intended for govt and endowment lands. Officials were demanding 50% shares and large bribes in the name of settlements,” the Union minister alleged. He also alleged that HYDRAA was following one set of rules for the poor people and another for Majlis-Congress leaders. Kishan Reddy said the seriousness of the situation could be understood from comments attributed to high court, suggesting that “the Army might have to be deployed to protect the property of Telangana residents”.He announced that BJP legal cells would provide free legal assistance to victims, from the mandal level up to the high court.Hyderabad Liberation DayThe BJP leader announced that, commemorating liberation from the Nizam rule, the central govt would officially organise ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ (Hyderabad Mukti Diwas) at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on Sept 17 this year as well. The celebrations, he said, would include a paramilitary parade and cultural performances by Telangana artists. He criticised the previous BRS govt and the present Congress regime, alleging that although Maharashtra and Karnataka have been officially observing the occasion for decades, Telangana govts avoided officially celebrating it because of fear of the Majlis party and vote-bank politics, thereby suppressing history.PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and Central govt logoKishan Reddy said that under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), the central govt bears over 70% of the subsidy, along with the cost of procuring grain, transportation and dealer commissions, and provides five kg rice free to the poor beneficiaries across the country. He alleged that while other states display the Centre’s logo, Telangana has removed PM Modi’s name and the govt of India logo and was displaying only photographs of the chief minister and the civil supplies minister. He questioned why the central govt logo was not being displayed on ration cards when the ration receipts reflect the Centre’s contribution. He warned that if the state govt did not stop portraying a central scheme as its own, the Centre would consider alternative arrangements to distribute rice directly to beneficiaries.
