Village leader booked for sexually assaulting woman on Indiramma house promise | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A village-level political leader has been booked in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district for allegedly sexually assaulting a physically challenged woman after promising to help her family secure an Indiramma scheme house and later threatening the family when the matter came to light.The incident was reported from a village in Atmakur mandal. According to police, the 50-year-old accused allegedly lured the woman with assurances that he would help her family obtain an Indiramma house and sexually assaulted her.The woman later informed her husband about the alleged assault. Following this, her husband raised the issue before village elders and sought intervention through a panchayat.Police said the accused subsequently threatened and humiliated the woman and her family. Thereafter, the woman’s husband approached the police and lodged a complaint seeking action against the accused.Based on the complaint, police registered a case against the accused leader and launched an investigation. Police are collecting details regarding the alleged assault and the subsequent threats to the family. Further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation, police said.
