TGSRTC bus overturns in Kamareddy, driver killed

Hyderabad: A TGSRTC bus veered out of control and crashed into a median near Kaulas crossroads on NH-161 in Jukkal mandal of Kamareddy district on Friday afternoon, killing its driver and injuring four passengers. The incident occurred when the bus, belonging to Hyderabad-1 depot, was heading towards Bichkunda from the city.According to Bichkunda inspector Ravi Kumar, the bus, carrying 13 passengers, hit the median and overturned. The bus driver, D Anjaneyulu, 50, was trapped underneath it and died on the spot. Passengers told police that the bus had started moving erratically nearly 200 metres before the crash. Some noticed the vehicle swerving and raised an alarm, fearing an accident. The bus eventually hit the median and overturned, with its two front tyres also coming off in the impact.Police and highway patrol personnel rushed to the spot after receiving information. They lifted the overturned bus and retrieved Anjaneyulu’s body. The injured conductor and passengers were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.Meanwhile, transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar expressed shock over the accident and said he spoke to the TSRTC managing director, district collector and police officials to enquire about the accident, the condition of the injured and the circumstances that led to the crash. He conveyed his condolences to Anjaneyulu’s family. The minister directed officials to ensure quality medical treatment for all those injured and to arrange any further medical assistance required. Police registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that caused the bus to lose control.
