Revanth draws battle lines in Sircilla: ‘Defeat KTR, get a minister’ | Hyderabad News
Hyderabad: Taking the political battle to the home turf of BRS working president K T Rama Rao, chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday called upon voters in Sircilla to defeat the five-term MLA in the next assembly election, promising ministerial representation and greater attention to welfare and development if the Congress wrests the constituency from the BRS.Addressing a well-attended public meeting in Sircilla after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for development works worth Rs 350 crore, and later participating in a rally, Revanth sought to present the next election as a choice between the Congress’s “praja palana” (people’s governance) and what he described as “dorala kutumba palana” (feudal family rule).Revanth asked the people of Sircilla whether they wanted “praja palana”, under which Dalits, Adivasis, BCs and the poor would have a share in political power, or a return to “dorala kutumba palana”, which, he said, the people had rejected in the 2023 assembly elections.In a significant political promise, the CM said the Congress candidate who defeats KTR in Sircilla would be made a minister so that the constituency could receive greater attention from the govt. He also promised that a leader from the Padmashali community would be made an MLC. However, he clarified that both decisions would be subject to the approval of the Congress high command.Launching a sharp attack on KTR and the BRS leadership, Revanth alleged that the former minister and his family had amassed enormous wealth during their years in power.“The people achieved their target of defeating the KCR-led corrupt BRS in the 2023 assembly elections. The Congress workers and cadres’ next target is to defeat KTR in Sircilla. Think how KCR and his family members earned so much wealth by taking commissions in the Kaleshwaram project cosntruction, through the sand of Manair, the deaths of Dalits under sand lorries in Nerella, and commissions even in contracts for Bathukamma saris despite questions over their quality,” Revanth alleged.He urged the people of Sircilla not to remain silent over what he described as the “loot” by the BRS leadership.Highlighting what he described as the difference in development spending under the two govts, Revanth said the previous BRS regime had spent Rs 2,234 crore in Sircilla over a decade, while the Congress govt had already spent Rs 1,751 crore in the constituency in just two-and-a-half years.He alleged that KTR had turned Sircilla into “Uricilla”, a colloquial reference to a place associated with hangings, during his tenure as MLA and minister.Revanth also alleged that KTR and his family had accumulated extensive properties, including lands, bungalows, hotels and farmhouses in and around Hyderabad, besides investments abroad.“KTR has asked for a white paper on the lands and wealth amassed by him and his family. I am asking him that, if he has the courage, he should demand a white paper on the properties and wealth amassed by him, KCR, Harish Rao, Santosh Rao, Kavitha and their relatives,” Revanth said.Referring to an incident in Erravelli in which BRS leaders allegedly performed a purification ritual after Dalits staged a ‘dappu’ protest, Revanth said the community would not forget the humiliation and would give a fitting response to KCR and his family in the next elections.
