Hyderabad: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) on Wednesday suspended the FSSAI licences of four dark stores and issued show-cause notices to five others and improvement notices to three following inspections that uncovered multiple food safety violations across Hyderabad’s Core Urban Region (CURE).The licences of Swiggy Instamart stores at Pet Basheerabad and Saidabad, a Flipkart store at Panjeshah Road in Charminar, and a Zepto store at Ram Koti were suspended. The establishments were directed to stop business operations immediately.Officials found unhygienic premises, dusty and rusted racks, cobwebs, expired and damaged food items, improper storage and handling, fungal-infested vegetables, cockroach and pest infestations, labelling violations and inadequate cold-room temperature maintenance.Show-cause notices were issued to Swiggy Instamart stores at Nizampet, Gajularamaram and Shah Ali Banda, and Flipkart stores at Moosarambagh and Rethi Galli in Golconda.Improvement notices were issued to Flipkart stores at Chintal and Gajularamaram and a Swiggy Instamart store at Chintal. The establishments will be reinspected, with further action, including penalties, to be taken based on compliance.Ten enforcement teams comprising food safety officers and police personnel inspected 16 dark stores operated by Swiggy Instamart, Flipkart, Zepto and Dropx Logistics. The teams also collected 15 food samples on suspicion of adulteration.
