Hyderabad: Got an old mattress, broken furniture or unwanted wooden articles piling up at home? Residents of Cyberabad can now have such bulky waste collected from their doorstep, with the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) introducing a scheduled collection service every Saturday.The initiative is aimed at curbing the practice of dumping large household items on roadsides, vacant plots and other public spaces. Residents can use the QR code provided in CMC’s campaign material to schedule a collection by selecting a preferred date and time.Following the booking, CMC teams will visit the premises and collect the bulky waste.The facility is expected to particularly benefit households replacing furniture, mattresses and other large articles that cannot easily be handed over through the routine door-to-door garbage collection system.CMC has urged residents to make use of the dedicated service instead of disposing of bulky waste indiscriminately. Large discarded items frequently end up at informal dumping points, along roads and in vacant plots, adding to the workload of municipal sanitation teams and contributing to neighbourhood eyesores.The scheduled service is part of efforts to bring waste outside the regular household garbage stream into a more organised collection system.
