Congress questions EVMs, EC only after losing polls: Ramchander Rao | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Monday accused Congress of questioning EVMs and Election Commission only after losing elections, saying its campaign against electoral roll revision was driven by fear of defeat.Addressing a meeting of BJP state office-bearers and district presidents at party headquarters, Rao said India had established itself as the world’s largest and most successful democracy. He said Congress accepted EVMs and Election Commission when it won elections but blamed both when it lost.Rao said only Indian citizens above 18 were entitled to vote and names of illegal immigrants should be removed from electoral rolls. Referring to ongoing Special Intensive Revision, he claimed large numbers of illegal voters were being identified and put the figure at around 30,000 Rohingyas and illegal voters in Maheshwaram constituency. He said BJP supported voting rights for every eligible citizen irrespective of religion and maintained that names of people who had shifted for work or other reasons should also be properly verified and corrected.Rao accused Congress of failing to fulfil its election promises in Telangana, including six guarantees. He cited fee reimbursement arrears, pending Rythu Bharosa payments, delays in pensions, teacher recruitment and employee promotions. He also criticised the govt for not implementing Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in Telangana.Rao said Congress and BRS had both failed people during their respective tenures. While BRS focused on the interests of KCR’s family, he charged, Congress leaders were preoccupied with commissions, contracts and sending money to Delhi. BJP, he said, was the only alternative for Telangana.Rao also raised temple attacks, referring to incidents in Secunderabad, Malkajgiri and Dilsukhnagar. He questioned police claims that accused persons had mental health problems and asked why such incidents repeatedly involved Hindu temples. He accused Congress and BRS of pursuing vote-bank politics at the cost of communal harmony.‘Seva Jyothi Yatra’ on Oct 7Rao called on party workers to participate in Seva Jyothi Yatra and Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha programmes at district headquarters on Oct 7. Workers from all mandals should reach venues by 9 am, he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Nitin Nabin are scheduled to address party workers virtually after 10 am.
