Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao has accused the Congress govt of jeopardising the future of poor students by failing to clear fee reimbursement dues, alleging that colleges are withholding certificates of students who have completed engineering and other degree courses.Rao said several students had approached him, claiming they were unable to take up jobs or pursue higher studies because colleges had not issued their certificates. He said some students who had secured jobs with annual packages of ₹6 lakh to ₹7 lakh were also unable to join companies without certificates.He alleged that even requests for soft copies of certificates were being rejected, leaving students and their parents distressed. According to him, students from rural areas and economically weaker backgrounds who depend on fee reimbursement were particularly affected.Rao stated that former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had released ₹20,576 crore towards fee reimbursement and accused the Revanth Reddy govt of weakening the scheme.He questioned why the govt was unable to clear students’ dues while releasing funds for other projects. Rao also referred to alleged remarks that engineering students were incapable of basic tasks, saying many of them had since secured jobs with global companies.He demanded the immediate release of fee reimbursement dues and the issuance of certificates to students, saying every rupee spent on education was an investment in Telangana’s future.
