BRS releases ‘charge sheet’ on 1,000 days of Congress rule in Telangana | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Launching a sharp attack on the Congress govt, BRS working president KT Rama Rao described its first 1,000 days in office as a period of “public suffering” rather than governance, and alleged that the state govt had failed on all major promises and sectors.“The Congress govt’s 1,000-days is a period marked by broken promises, corruption, farmer distress, rising public dissatisfaction, administrative failure, economic mismanagement and declining law and order,” KTR alleged. Releasing a 23-page ‘charge sheet’ on the Congress govt at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday, the BRS working president said his party would raise every promise and failure of the govt in the upcoming assembly session beginning Sep 7.He said the Congress came into power in Dec 2023 by promising ‘six guarantees’ in its manifesto. “Congress promised the six guarantees within 100 days, but failed to implement them fully. The promise of two lakh jobs and benefits for unemployed youth was not fulfilled. Farmers, women, students, Dalits, minorities, and backward classes were deceived,” he alleged.KTR claimed Congress failed to deliver its promised farm loan waiver of ₹50,000 crore, reducing it progressively to about ₹20,000 crore. Farmers were again facing shortages of urea fertilizer and procurement delays. He alleged that over 1,000 farmers died by suicide during the Cong govt’s tenure. “Telangana’s agricultural progress achieved under KCR was reversed,” he alleged.The BRS working president accused Revanth’s govt of promoting a commission-based system. KTR alleged widespread land grabbing and misuse of Section 22-A prohibited properties, placing large extents of land under restrictions. He claimed corruption in land-related transactions and permissions.The Congress govt, despite borrowing around ₹4.5 lakh crore, or Rs 45 crore per day, failed to create significant new infrastructure. The only achievement of Revanth’s govt was merely inaugurating projects initiated by the previous BRS govt. He alleged deterioration in law and order, citing increased crime, police action against protesters, and administrative disorder.
