Telangana HC rejects plea against Vikarabad court complex site
HC stays Telangana’s special privilege fee on bars for 4 weeks

Hyderabad: elangana high court has dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the proposed construction of the new district court complex at Mekalagandi in Vikarabad, observing that the issue does not constitute a matter of public interest and that such disputes only delay infrastructure projects.A bench comprising Acting Chief Justice P Sam Koshy and Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao rejected the PIL filed by a group of advocates from Vikarabad district, who had questioned the suitability of the proposed site. The petitioners contended that the location, a low-lying rocky area, had earlier been found unsuitable by erstwhile principal district and sessions judges and sought allotment of an alternative site. The bench questioned the maintainability of the PIL and asked how the proposed site selection affected the public at large. “A new high court is being constructed at Budwel. How is that going to affect public?” the bench asked. The court further noted, “Of late, this has become a trend, wherever the state is allotting lands, one section of the bar supports, other section opposes. Ultimately, it has to be of larger interest. Such matters are only delaying projects.”Holding that no case for interference was made out, the court dismissed the PIL.
