Singareni funds Rs 9 cr mega kitchen to serve 60k govt school students daily | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A centralised community kitchen capable of serving nutritious meals to nearly 60,000 students every day is set to come up at Syedmujavarpet in Suryapet district, with authorities aiming to make the facility operational within the next 100 days.The project, being implemented by the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation (HKMCF) with ₹9.6 crore support from the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), will cater to around 1,029 govt schools and junior colleges.Food and civil supplies minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy is monitoring the project, while Suryapet district collector Tejas Nandlal Pawar said efforts are on to launch the scheme within 100 days.The kitchen services will extend beyond Suryapet. Nalgonda district collector B Chandrasekhar said 131 govt educational institutions in Nakrekal, Sali Gouraram, Kethepally and Vemulapally mandals, covering 7,972 students, will also receive meals.The initiative aims to tackle malnutrition by providing balanced food rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals. Officials believe nutritious breakfasts will improve students’ concentration, attendance and classroom participation while helping reduce dropout rates.The programme is also expected to ease the burden on economically vulnerable families and promote equality through universal access to nutritious food. Millet-based dishes are proposed as part of the menu.HKMCF’s partnership with the Indian Institute of Millets Research will support nutrition planning and recipe development.HKMCF president Satya Doura Chandra Dasa said the organisation would strive to reach rural students with nutritious food to support their education. The minister thanked SCCL for providing ₹9.6 crore under its CSR programme.
