15 women staff accuse chief engineer of misconduct

SHIVA KUMAR PINNAWarangal: Fifteen women employees have lodged a complaint against the chief engineer of the Zilla Praja Parishad (ZP), Warangal, alleging harassment and inappropriate behaviour. They submitted a representation to Panchayat Raj minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) in Hyderabad on Friday.According to the complainants, the Panchayat Raj Department chief engineer frequently used abusive and derogatory language and allegedly humiliated and harassed women employees in the office. They alleged that he made inappropriate remarks about women and used offensive proverbs during interactions with female staff.The employees further alleged that the chief engineer behaved inappropriately with a woman employee during an official meeting in his office. A nine-page complaint detailing the alleged incidents and remarks was submitted to the minister.The women employees also appealed to the principal secretary, the engineer-in-chief (ENC) and the special chief secretary to take appropriate action against the official. They have also approached the Telangana State Women’s Commission seeking stringent action.The employees said they had emailed and faxed the complaint to the ENC and two district collectors earlier this week. They alleged that the chief engineer was attempting to suppress the complaints and prevent them from reaching higher authorities.
