7-yr-old dies at Narayanpet govt hospital; kin claim treatment delay | Hyderabad News

Narayanpet: A seven-year-old girl died at the Narayanpet district govt hospital on Saturday morning after her family alleged that she was left waiting for treatment for nearly five hours despite being brought to the facility with high fever.The deceased, Chaitra, was the daughter of Kammari Venkataramulu of Kollampally village. According to her family, the girl developed a severe fever and her condition worsened, prompting Venkataramulu to take her to the district hospital in Narayanpet town at around 4 am on Saturday.The family said they approached doctors and requested immediate treatment as Chaitra was running a high fever. However, they alleged that there was no timely medical intervention even after she was brought to the hospital.As the wait continued, Chaitra’s condition reportedly deteriorated. After nearly five hours, the girl died at the hospital, leaving her family devastated.The incident triggered a protest by Chaitra’s family members, who alleged that the child’s death was caused by negligence on the part of the hospital staff. They questioned why she was not attended to promptly despite being brought to the govt hospital in the early hours with a serious health condition.Venkataramulu and his family were inconsolable after watching the child die at the hospital. They demanded action against those responsible and sought an explanation from the hospital authorities over the alleged delay in providing treatment.“We have all the basic facilities at the hospital. The allegation that the child was made to wait for five hours is not true. A detailed inquiry into the incident is yet to be conducted,” said Dr Jaya Chandra Mohan, DMHO.
