Rahul distorting facts, says BJP on Ramlila Maidan cleaning ritual | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad:Telangana BJP chief Ramachander Rao on Sunday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of trying to divide country for political gains and alleged that he was creating differences between north and south and among communities.Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on a purification ritual held at Ramlila Maidan, Rao alleged that Congress leader was indulging in “cheap politics” by portraying the ritual in a wrong manner.Speaking to media, Rao said Dalits had also participated in the ritual held at Ramlila Maidan. He said the event was not organised because Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had addressed or visited the venue.Rao alleged that Rahul Gandhi was aware of the facts but was distorting them to mislead people.He also targeted Congress over its alleged treatment of BR Ambedkar, claiming the party had opposed him from the beginning and defeated him in an election. He alleged that Congress had never conferred Bharat Ratna on Ambedkar and had “humiliated” him. Against this backdrop, Rao challenged Kharge to resign from Congress if he was genuinely a leader of Dalits.
