Woman claims harassment, threats by ad agency owner

Hyderabad: A woman who runs an advertising agency in the city alleged in a post on X that a person who claimed to be closely associated with a senior political leader from the state made an objectionable remark by asking her to come to a guest house to discuss a business-related matter. In her post, the businesswoman said she had been seeking a lawful opportunity in the outdoor advertising sector for three years and had recently submitted revenue-sharing business proposals to govt. “What disturbed me most was this: while trying to place my genuine issue before the govt, I approached a person whom I understood to be closely associated with you. I was directly asked to come to a guest house to discuss my matter,” the woman alleged in a post addressed to a senior politician. While she did not name the person who made the objectionable remarks, a case was registered by Banjara Hills police on May 2 based on her complaint. In her complaint, she alleged that a person who runs an advertising agency had used abusive language against her. The woman alleged that she had posted on X about illegal advertisement boards in the city and approached the Lokayukta. She further alleged that the accused had threatened her to withdraw the complaint and used abusive language against her on social media. She also alleged that on April 29, at a juice outlet in Banjara Hills, the accused had threatened to “see her end” and said that his close associate, a politician, would support him. Based on the complaint, Banjara Hills police booked a case on May 2 under Sections 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS.“We have registered a case and a counter case on the complaint of both the parties regarding criminal intimidation. Chargesheets have also been filed in both the cases,” Banjara Hills inspector Suhasan said. The inspector said that he was not aware of the recent post by the businesswoman on X.
