Hyderabad: The kitchen budget is feeling the pinch as prices of several vegetables, including carrots and beans, have risen in recent weeks, adding to the pressure caused by soaring onion prices.Beans, for instance, are now retailing at around Rs 65 a kg, up from about Rs 50 last month. Carrot prices too have moved up, vendors said.However, the price movement has not been uniform across the vegetable basket. While some vegetables have become costlier, others have turned cheaper, offering consumers some respite. Tomato prices have dropped to around Rs 15 a kg from Rs 20–25 a kg.Vendors at Rythu Bazaars said prices continue to fluctuate depending on arrivals, availability and supplies from producing regions. Changes in arrivals and weather conditions in vegetable-growing areas can affect wholesale prices, with the impact eventually reaching retail markets, they said.
