Two killed, two injured as car rams into truck in Gadwal | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Two people were killed and two others seriously injured when the car they were travelling in rammed into a truck on a national highway near the 10th Battalion at Erravalli in Jogulamba Gadwal on Sunday. Police suspect the driver may have dozed off at the wheel, leading to the collision.The four were travelling from Hyderabad to the Jogulamba temple in Gadwal after successfully finalising a deal to install an elevator in an apartment complex in the city. They were associated with an elevator consultancy and had planned the temple visit after the deal was concluded.The deceased were identified as Pothukumari Sairam (37), a realtor from Vanasthalipuram, and Mounika (25), a native of Thorrur who was residing in Hyderabad. Mounika was working as a CA assistant with the consultancy and was also pursuing a diploma in business management at a private college in the city.Raghav, who was also associated with the consultancy and involved in the real estate business, and the driver, Mukesh, sustained serious injuries in the accident. Passing motorists shifted them to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.Itikyala sub-inspector K Ravi said the group had left Hyderabad together to visit the Jogulamba temple. “They were travelling towards Gadwal when the car collided with the truck in the early hours of Sunday. We suspect the driver may have dozed off while driving. The exact circumstances leading to the accident are being examined,” he said.Police reached the spot after receiving information and inspected the accident site. The bodies of Sairam and Mounika were shifted to a local hospital for post-mortem examination. The injured duo are stated to be out of danger.Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision, including the possibility that the driver lost alertness while driving.
