Hyderabad: A three-year-and-eight-month-old boy died after being hit by a speeding SUV near a fast-food outlet at IS Sadan X Roads on Saturday night. The driver fled the scene after the incident, and the IS Sadan police registered a fatal road accident case.The boy’s father, a 35-year-old private employee from Old Santosh Nagar Colony, had taken him to Fusion Food Hub, an eatery located near Sweekar Hotel at IS Sadan X Roads, at around 11 pm along with his wife.The boy’s father parked his scooter opposite the eatery on the other side of the lane. While the mother and child waited near the parked vehicle, the father went inside to collect a food parcel.“The boy followed his father and then turned back towards his mother, who was waiting near the scooter. As the boy was crossing the lane, an SUV being driven in a rash and negligent manner from Bhoji Reddy College towards IS Sadan X Roads hit him and sped away,” IS Sadan sub-inspector (SI) M Sindhuja said.The family rushed the boy to a nearby private hospital, where he was declared dead. Based on a complaint lodged by the boy’s father, IS Sadan police registered a case under Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the BNS against the SUV driver on Sunday. The SI said the accused driver, who was not under the influence of alcohol, was taken into custody on Sunday and would be issued a notice as per law.
