Telangana govt to hold all-party meet on fee reimbursement, scholarships

Hyderabad: The state govt will convene an all-party meeting to discuss issues related to fee reimbursement and scholarship schemes, legislative affairs minister D Sridhar Babu announced in the assembly on Friday following concerns raised by members across party lines. The announcement came during question hour after AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi sought a comprehensive discussion on pending fee reimbursement dues, scholarship implementation and eligibility norms for beneficiaries.Raising the issue, Akbaruddin stressed that fee reimbursement benefits should reach only deserving students and called for stricter scrutiny of beneficiaries. He cited a case in which an economically backward category student allegedly received fee reimbursement despite the family owning multiple properties and residing in a three-storeyed house. He also flagged the issue of scholarships for Muslim students, stating that an earlier announcement on extending scholarship support had not been implemented. He demanded that an all-party meeting be convened to find solutions to problems related to fee reimbursement and scholarships.Responding, Sridhar Babu assured the House that an all-party meeting would be organised to deliberate on the issue and address concerns raised by various parties.
