The makers of ‘Ramayana’ held the audio launch of the Nitesh Tiwari film in Chennai on Wednesday evening, with leads Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash in attendance. While the event was meant to introduce A.R. Rahman’s songs, it was Sai Pallavi’s warm remarks about her co-stars that drew the most attention.

Sai Pallavi on Ranbir Kapoor’s love for South cinema

According to the Hindustan Times, speaking on stage, Sai Pallavi turned her attention to Ranbir, who plays Ram in the film. She said, “Now, I’m going to speak about dear Ram. Every time he has met me, I’ve noticed I wouldn’t have watched a Tamil movie released that week or month. But he has updated himself, and he’ll ask me about it. He has watched Amaran, and we have discussed it. But even Maharaja or Baththa, he has stayed updated.”She added that Ranbir enjoys films from the South and makes an effort to appreciate them. The actress added, “He makes it a point to watch it and pass his appreciation in some or the other form. Which, I think, is so kind. You don’t have to do that. But it’s so nice that you do that. It’s like he has a library for them in his mind.”

‘He’s got some sort of inner peace’

Sai Pallavi also spoke about Ranbir’s casting as Ram. She said, “We have seen him in Animal, Barfi and other films. Ram is a restrained and restricted character. He’s got some sort of inner peace in him that just radiates through his eyes. I am very happy, excited that I got to see you perform like that.”

Praise for A.R. Rahman and Yash

The actor said she is a huge admirer of Rahman, whose songs have been a part of her growing-up years and, in her words, have become the background score of her life. She also talked about Yash, noting that Tamil audiences cheer for him, whether it is for ‘KGF’ or ‘Toxic’, as though he had made a film in their own language. According to her, the two actors may come from different industries, but they are joined by their craft.
