NEW DELHI: Congress is planning to move court to seek permission for Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron ki Goonj’ programme in Pune if it is stopped by the district administration’s curfew for the coming fortnight.Rahul’s student convention is planned for Pune on August 22, while the administration is said to have imposed a ban on the gathering of more than four persons from August 18-31.The party is learnt to have secured permission from a city college that is to serve as the venue of the programme. It applied for permission from police and municipal corporation Monday, coinciding with the information about imposition of curfew. The district administration is said to have issued the ban on big gatherings with an eye on protests and festivals, but Congress views the sudden order as targeted at its upcoming programme.‘Chhatron ki Goonj’ conventions are aimed exclusively at students, with Rahul coming up with the series to deepen connect with Gen Z in the wake of NEET paper leak related protests at Jantar Mantar. The Pune leg has the novelty of being exclusively for girls, with Rahul himself making the announcement on Sunday.“Dehradun administration rescinded permission for July 17 for the main Parade Ground and the venue had to be shifted. The same problem was faced in Allahabad on August 8. Rajasthan govt also tried to block the first of the series of the programme in Kota on June 17. Now, it is Pune. The curfew is clearly aimed at our programme,” a party functionary said.
