IIT Bombay introduces new e-PG Diploma in Computer Science and AI with Generative AI and LLM modules

IIT Bombay ePG Diploma 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has launched an e-Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, combining computer science fundamentals with advanced topics in artificial intelligence and machine learning. The programme is being offered by IIT Bombay Educational Outreach and will be delivered by faculty members of IIT Bombay, with Great Learning as the EdTech partner. It combines synchronous and asynchronous online learning with an in-person campus immersion at IIT Bombay.Programme covers computer science and AIThe e-Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence is designed for software developers, engineers, IT professionals and data scientists with prior exposure to computer science. Fresh graduates with basic computer science knowledge can also pursue the programme. The curriculum is divided into two baskets: Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Students must complete six courses, with at least two courses from each basket. The programme can be completed in one year, while learners have the flexibility to complete it within three years.AI curriculum includes generative AI and LLMsThe Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning basket includes Generative AI, Large Language Models, AI Agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, Model Context Protocol, Reinforcement Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning. The Computer Science basket covers Algorithms and Complexity, Blockchain, Web and Software Security, Cryptography and Network Security, and Big Data System Internals. The programme includes online teaching alongside campus-based learning at IIT Bombay.Faculty highlights importance of computing foundationsProf. Vinay J. Ribeiro, e-PGD (CS and AI) Faculty Coordinator in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay, said, “The programme will equip learners not just to use AI tools, but to understand Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at a foundational level. This deeper understanding will help them adapt, compete and excel in the increasingly AI-centric world we are entering.”Mohan Lakhamraju, Founder and CEO of Great Learning, said, “AI is becoming integral to software development and computing systems. Professionals need more than familiarity with AI tools; they need strong foundations in computer science and an understanding of how its principles support the design and deployment of reliable, scalable AI systems.”Learners to receive IIT Bombay e-alumni statusSuccessful learners completing the programme will receive IIT Bombay e-alumni status.IIT Bombay was established in 1958 and was granted Institution of Eminence status by the Ministry of Education on July 9, 2018. The institute has produced more than 75,000 engineers and scientists over six decades.Information about the e-Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence is available on the IIT Bombay Department of Computer Science and Engineering website.
