PG medical student found dead in hotel, boyfriend goes missing

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old postgraduate medical student was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a hotel room in Miyapur on Friday, with police launching a probe into the case and her family alleging that she was murdered by her boyfriend.The deceased was identified as K Srijana, whose body was found in a decomposed state inside the hotel room. Police said preliminary investigation revealed that Srijana had checked into the hotel with her friend, Ravi, on Sept 30.According to investigators, Ravi checked out of the hotel on Thursday morning and has been untraceable since. Concerned over her whereabouts after failing to contact her, Srijana’s parents, residents of Sangareddy, first went to Hanumakonda, where she was pursuing her postgraduate medical studies.After speaking to her friends, they learnt that she had travelled to Hyderabad to meet Ravi. Her family subsequently lodged a missing person complaint with Hanumakonda police. Using mobile phone location data, police tracked her movements to the Miyapur hotel, where they found her dead.

“Ravi was in possession of her chain. To take the chain from him, she came to Hyderabad and they took a room. What happened subsequently is still a mystery,” Miyapur inspector N Jayaram told TOI.Police said Srijana and Ravi had known each other for several years. The two reportedly met while she was pursuing her MBBS in Mahbubnagar and later entered into a relationship. Ravi is said to be a degree dropout.Based on a complaint lodged by Srijana’s family members, Miyapur police registered a murder case and launched efforts to trace Ravi, whose role in the incident is under investigation.The body was shifted to postmortem examination to know the cause of death. There were no visible injuries and since it was in decomposed condition, investigators found it difficult to ascertain. Once the PME report is given by doctors, the cause of death will be known.
