Hyderabad: Even as the TPCC disciplinary action committee’s report has reached the AICC leadership which is expected to take its own time and not rush into a decision on the issue involving minister Konda Surekha, her husband and former MLC Konda Murali on Wednesday met deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka at Praja Bhavan.The meeting triggered speculations that Murali had launched a damage-control exercise and explained to the deputy CM that neither Konda Surekha nor he were at fault, as the comments were made by their daughter, K Sushmitha. Konda Surekha had also made a similar statement before the disciplinary committee recently.Replying to queries from media persons about his meeting with Bhatti Vikramarka, which was also attended by minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Munugode MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, Konda Murali claimed that neither Konda Surekha nor the recent political developments were discussed.He also distanced himself and his wife from the remarks made by their daughter, Sushmitha. However, he said that his daughter had made the remarks based on “plan A” and added that he did not know what “plan B” was. Sources said Sushmitha was in touch with Jana Sena party and that moving to the party could be her ‘plan B’, but Murali did not confirm this. He, however, said that even K Kavitha had launched her own party.Murali said he would not comment further on the issue until the Congress disciplinary committee or the AICC takes a call. “We have complete faith in Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. We have no intention of leaving the Congress party,” he said. Meanwhile, MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy said he had visited Dy CM Bhatti Vikramarka to discuss pending bills related to his constituency.Raj Gopal clarified that he had not made any remarks against chief minister A Revanth Reddy. He said the disciplinary committee’s decision regarding Konda Surekha would be final and added that his position on the issue was in line with the CM’s stand. “I have never spoken against the CM or the party. I fought for Telangana. There are some leaders who are in top posts despite not being part of statehood agitation in the past,” he said.Meanwhile, the Congress circles are agog with speculation over what action the AICC would take against Konda Surekha and G Chinna Reddy. There is also discussion within the party over whether MLC Vijayashanti, MLA M Ragamayee or male MLAs or MLCs or leaders from the BC community could emerge as possible replacements for Surekha if the axe falls on her. On her part, Konda Surekha has maintained silence and is reportedly trying to meet Revanth Reddy to explain her version. The possibility of the Konda couple either being summoned to Delhi or travelling there to meet Gandhi family and AICC general secretary K C Venugopal has also not been ruled out.
