Elderly woman’s ears cut, gold earrings snatched in Nizamabad

Hyderabad: A 70-year-old woman was attacked by an intruder who allegedly cut her ears and snatched her gold earrings after breaking into her house in Gautam Nagar, Nizamabad, in the early hours of Monday. The accused also allegedly demanded money from her before fleeing when she raised an alarm.The incident occurred on road no. 2 in Bangaru Maisamma colony, Gautam Nagar. The victim, Nalla Arundhathi, was alone in the house at that time.

According to police, Arundhathi had locked the doors and had gone to sleep on Sunday night. Sometime later, she heard a noise from beneath her bed. When she bent down to check, she found a man hiding there and questioned him.The intruder then allegedly attacked her with a pair of scissors and cut her ears while attempting to remove her gold earrings. He allegedly took the earrings and demanded money from her. When she told him she did not have any, he allegedly attacked her again and fled after she screamed for help.Hearing her cries, neighbours rushed to her house; however, the accused escaped before they could catch him.The injured woman was shifted to a govt hospital by ambulance for treatment. Police reached the spot after receiving information from locals and began collecting details about the incident.During the preliminary investigation, police identified the suspect as Natori Nithin (39), a resident of the same locality. After launching a search, they arrested him.SI Hari Babu said Nalla Arundhathi normally lives in Hyderabad with her sons, who are engaged in the real estate business. She had returned to her native village after nearly a year to clean up her house and was planning to leave within a week. However, the attack occurred while she was staying alone at the house.Nizamabad III town police registered a case and are investigating the incident. Police are also examining the circumstances under which the accused entered the house.
