Delivery executive absconds with gold parcel | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A Rapido delivery executive absconded with a parcel reportedly containing gold jewellery worth over Rs 60,000 after collecting it from a company in Banjara Hills for delivery to a customer in Nagole. Jubilee Hills police have registered a case against the rider, G Murali, on Oct 29.According to the complaint lodged by Datta Prasad Neetipalli, a manager at Vivo, he had booked a Rapido delivery service on Oct 27 for Rs 203 to transport a parcel to his cousin’s residence in Nagole. The parcel contained a gold side-ear chain worth Rs 62,383, purchased from Joyalukkas in Panjagutta, and a rose-gold anklet bought from Giva near Galleria Mall.Prasad had instructed his security guard, Biju, to pack the jewellery in a box and hand it over to the delivery executive. After collecting the parcel, Murali allegedly called Prasad later that evening, requesting Rs 100 through PhonePe to refuel his vehicle. Prasad transferred the amount, following which the rider allegedly blocked his number and stopped responding to calls from other numbers. Despite contacting Rapido customer support, Prasad was unable to get an update on the delivery, as the company reportedly could not reach the rider.Jubilee Hills police said the accused was absconding and further details about his whereabouts were not available. A case was registered under Sections 314 and 316 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation was underway.Although the platform does not permit the transport of precious metals, the complainant had packed the jewellery in a gift box and booked a rider without a passenger. He had verbally instructed the rider to deliver the package, Jubilee Hills police said. The rider was not aware that the parcel contained gold jewellery, police officers added.
