Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths conducted searches at eight locations linked to Bojja Jaya Raju, assistant director in the Mines & Geology Department, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, on Thursday and unearthed disproportionate assets estimated to be worth around ₹10 crore. The accused was arrested and will be produced before a local court for judicial remand.Jaya Raju (58) is currently holding full additional charge of the post of deputy director, Mines & Geology department, Warangal. The ACB registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against him and conducted searches at eight locations linked to him, his relatives and associates in Hyderabad and the erstwhile Warangal district.During the searches, ACB officials identified several assets, including a G+2 building at Boduppal, a flat in KPHB Colony, five plots in Keesara, Thungathurthy, Toopran and Suryapet, 3.2 acres of agricultural land in Jangaon, ₹10 lakh in cash, LIC and Max Life investments worth ₹19.8 lakh, three four-wheelers and two two-wheelers worth ₹40 lakh, post office savings of ₹20.86 lakh, 629 gram of gold ornaments, household articles valued at ₹10.6 lakh, and bank balances amounting to ₹71.2 lakh.According to the ACB, data retrieved from the mobile phone of the accused officer’s driver, Sattunuri Yadaiah, indicated that around ₹24.8 lakh had been transferred through multiple transactions from the driver’s bank account to the account of the officer’s daughter.“The driver stated that the amount was allegedly collected from persons involved in sand transportation and related activities before being transferred to the account of the daughter of the accused officer. Further investigation is underway to verify the source and purpose of these transactions and the alleged illegal gratification involved,” the ACB said in a statement.The accused has been arrested and will be produced before the court for judicial remand. “The documentary value of the assets identified so far is over ₹3 crore, but their market value is estimated at around ₹10 crore,” an ACB official said.The ACB urged the public to report bribery demands by public servants through its toll-free number, 1064, assuring that the identities of informants would be kept confidential.
