Minister tells officials to address infrastructure gaps in hospitals | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: The Telangana govt plans to develop the Nizamabad Govt General Hospital (GGH) into a referral centre by introducing super-specialty services in phases, health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha said on Monday.During a review meeting with Nizamabad MLAs at the Secretariat, the minister said cardiology, neurology, nephrology and urology departments would soon be made operational at the hospital. He also announced that an advanced MRI machine is being procured, and that MRI services will be introduced shortly.Reviewing the functioning of the govt medical college, GGH, area hospitals, community health centres (CHCs), primary health centres (PHCs) and sub-centres, the minister directed officials to address infrastructure gaps and patient needs raised by public representatives.The MLAs said that the growing public trust in govt hospitals has increased demand for beds at Nizamabad GGH as well as major hospitals in Hyderabad. The minister assured that requests to establish a PHC at Ankapur, upgrade the Nandipet PHC into a CHC and set up a trauma care centre at Indalwai would be examined.Rajanarsimha said the govt has recently posted 18 gynaecologists, 22 anaesthetists, 22 paediatricians and around 330 nursing officers in the district. Appointments of specialists in general medicine, general surgery, radiology and other departments will be completed by the month-end, he added.
