HC warns officials over delay in employee regularisation | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Telangana high court on Monday expressed displeasure over the delay in implementing its earlier orders. Justice T Madhavi Devi, hearing a contempt case of 2021 regarding the regularisation of employees working in different educational institutions in the erstwhile Warangal district, questioned officials as to why no action was taken so far, despite seeking time several times to comply with the orders. The judge set a final deadline of four weeks to submit a report on the implementation of the orders and adjourned the case to Nov 27 for further hearing. The court made it clear that if the report was not filed within the deadline, the officials concerned would have to appear before it.During the hearing, tribal welfare commissioner and director Santosh and finance department special secretary Sikta Patnaik appeared before the court. The officials sought another six weeks to implement the orders, but the court objected to the request. The court pointed out that the orders had been issued in 2019 and that a contempt petition was filed in 2021. It also asked why the orders were not implemented even after the officials approached Supreme Court and failed to get any relief there.Referring to the contempt notice issued on Sept 21, 2026, the court directed the officials to explain what steps were taken after receiving the notices. The tribal welfare department official told the court that a letter was sent to the finance department on Oct 23. However, the finance department officer said the relevant file had not yet been received by her department. Not satisfied with the officials’ argument that movement of files between departments takes time, the court expressed displeasure that there had been no progress in implementing the orders even after such a long period. The court warned that if the report was not submitted by the deadline, the officials concerned must personally appear before the court at the next hearing.
