Wedding gunfire video lands bizman, cousin in Arms Act case

Hyderabad: A social media video showing a businessman firing three rounds into the air during a wedding celebration has landed him and his cousin in legal trouble, with police registering a case under the Arms Act and seizing the weapon used in the incident.According to police, the video, which recently surfaced on Facebook and WhatsApp, showed Amer Bin Sayeed (41), a businessman from Barkas, firing a revolver into the air while standing among a group of men during a family function.Following the circulation of the footage, Chandrayangutta police traced Amer and visited his residence, where they initially seized an air revolver.“Amer confessed that in the video, he had used the licensed revolver of his cousin, Valeed Hussain, a businessman from Jameel Colony in Errakunta. We have seized the licensed .32 revolver along with some live rounds and licence documents from Valeed’s house. Amer fired three rounds into the air from Valeed’s revolver at the latter’s house premises on the occasion of Valeed’s brother Obeid’s wedding in Aug 2025,” Chandrayangutta inspector R Ravinder said.Police said the firing took place at Valeed’s residence during the wedding celebrations of his brother, Obeid, in Aug last year.An Arms Act case was registered against both Amer and Valeed on Thursday.“We are transferring the case to Balapur police station for further investigation since the location of the incident falls under their jurisdiction. No arrests have been made yet,” the inspector said.Police said further investigation will be carried out by Balapur police.
